Thank you for downloading and trying List Pad 1.1! We hope you find List Pad a useful, enjoyable, quality application.
This read me document contains a few quick notes about the 1.1 release and should be read by all users. The List Pad FAQ follows below and gives a quick overview of what List Pad is, who created it, what it costs, etc, and is optional reading. Please refer to the included manual for information on using List Pad. Also, please feel free to contact Taylor Design with any questions you might have.
Last Minute Notes
* RAM Charger Users: Make sure that RAM Charger is set to "Avoid taking all memory." Otherwise RAM Charger may assign List Pad far more RAM than it needs.
* If you have any problems running List Pad, please try running it with only the standard Mac OS extensions and/or with no extensions (i.e. hold down the shift key at launch). If you find a conflict between List Pad 1.1 and any extension, please notify us immediately so that we can attempt to resolve the issue.
* We╒ve had a few reports from users who downloaded List Pad and couldn╒t get it to run and/or experienced excessive problems. Upon re-downloading the archive, everything worked fine. If you have problems with List Pad and turning off your extensions doesn╒t help, you may want to try re-downloading the archive. If problems persist, please notify us immediately so that we can identify and resolve them. Thank you.
List Pad 1.1 Changes
Important: Due to changes and additions to List Pad alarms, the file format has changed from List Pad 1.0 to 1.1. List Pad 1.1 will open and automatically convert files created in List Pad 1.0. Basically you don╒t have to worry about this. As you open, edit, and save your lists in normal use they will be updated to the 1.1 format.
However, List Pad 1.0 will not open List Pad 1.1 files. If you are exchanging lists with another List Pad user, you both need to upgrade to version 1.1. The 1.1 upgrade patch is free, so this shouldn╒t be a problem for anyone.
The following changes were made from version 1.0 to version 1.1:
* Modified the date, time, number and currency fields to support international formats and to use the format settings of the user╒s system, set in the Date & Time and Numbers control panels.
* Added a Month of Year repeating option which allows users to set an alarm to repeat on the same date of every selected month.
* Added a ╥5th Week╙ field to the Day of Month repeating option. 5th Week repeats do not occur unless there is a 5th week in the month, unlike the ╥Last Week╙ field which repeats in either the 4th or 5th week. (Setting an alarm to repeat in the 5th week of February will cause it to repeat in the 4th week instead *if* February is the only month selected.)
* Added Silence Alarm and Snooze Alarm╔ commands to the Item menu.
* The following bugs which were in 1.0 have been fixed in 1.1:
- The Custom Interval repeating option (which includes all of the ╘preset╒ repeating options) would cause List Pad to crash depending on the time it was computing from. Generally users were bound to eventually run into this when the alarm went off or was silenced, if not immediately upon setting the option and saving the Item. We believe this bug, which was due to a minor programming error, was inadvertently added between final beta and release.
- The Day of Month repeating option would, under some settings, cause List Pad to ╥freeze╙, i.e. List Pad would search endlessly for the next iteration not realizing that it was passing up valid iterations. This repeating option has been rewritten, and this should no longer be a problem.
- With the Day of Week and Day of Month repeating options users could enter invalid settings (i.e. no boxes checked in the dialogs), which could potentially freeze or crash List Pad. List Pad no longer accepts invalid settings, reverting instead to the old settings as if the Cancel button had been pressed.
- Double clicking an Item in the Alarm Browser would cause List Pad to crash. It now properly opens the Item Editor.
- List Pad 1.0 saved a file by deleting the original and writing the updated version. This could wreak havoc with Mac OS aliases pointing to List Pad files (including the alias records stored by List Pad), confuse backup applications, and would also effectively destroy the creation date. This was a bug in the ABC╒s (the framework used with List Pad) and has been fixed. 1.1 saves the new data to the same file.
- The Build New List╔ command had two bugs. It did not appropriately clone the Items from the source list, which could cause some very confusing behavior (i.e. edits to an Item in one list being reflected in the same Item in the other list) until one of the documents was closed and reopened. This has been fixed. Also, File Prefs are now transferred to the duplicate list.
- Items were previously date stamped 0/0/0. They are now stamped with the date of their creation, or the default date for documents with a default Item.
- File Prefs are now accessible from the Item Editor as well. Previously this menu item was dimmed when an Item Editor was in front.
- The Item Print Layout did not properly format numbers. It now does using the same system settings as the fields in the Item Editor.
APPL Crush Compatibility
The registered version of List Pad should work fine with APPL Crush 1.0. APPL Crush (http://www.frii.com/~abarry/ac_index.html) compresses applications to roughly 50% of their original size with little or no performance hit. Do Not Crush the demo version or you will be unable to unlock it upon registering! Only use APPL Crush on List Pad after you have registered and unlocked it.

Description
List Pad is a flexible yet easy to use data management utility with powerful sorting, alarms, price calculations, and categorization features.
List Pad is similar to a to do list manager but far more flexible. List Pad can handle virtually any kind of short to medium length data list, and is designed to handle data too long and complex for Note Pad or a text file yet too short and simple to warrant pulling out a full blown database.
List Pad is ideal for all kinds of to do lists, reminder lists, purchase lists, sales lists, packing lists, goal lists, etc. List Pad can help you enter, store, organize, and retrieve all those necessary little bits of information that can make life so hectic without forcing you to waste time designing your own databases or constantly formatting a text file.
Features like Auto Save, Auto Hide, and Hot Activation keep List Pad at your finger tips without being obtrusive, while a slick 3D interface makes List Pad a joy to use. List Pad is RAM based for fast sorting and filtering of the types of lists it was designed to handle. Straight forward operation and a low price make List Pad the premier Macintosh list manager.
